Extremely unhappy about the Garmin Express update, too old iMac for 10.7

Isn't there anything you could do about keeping even simple support for OS X 10.6? My mid 2006 iMac doesn't support 10.7 so this has turned my Garming product useless. Not really happy about the idea of buying new computer just to get your product working, since the computer does everything I need it for just fine (expect uploading Garming activities now...). Couldn't there at least be a possibility to manually upload activity files through web browser if I first just get the file from the device myself...?

Really annoying that you make the system limited this way since there are a lot of old macs around.

I figured a way to upload the activities manually through Garmin Connect. Problem was that when you have the plugin installed for uploading directly from the device, after the update hitting the upload redirects you to the Garmin express site. If you uninstall the Garmin plugin the upload-button on Garmin Connect doesn't redirect you to the express site but to the old "plugin not installed site" that also has the manual upload possibility. So just uninstall the Garmin plugin and you can upload your activities.
  • Ah, hang on - so there is a workaround?
I'm not on my mac now so I can't test this, but should I expect to be able to just plug in my watch, access it as a USB device, and manually upload the .fit file?
If so I'm very happy to stand corrected and say this isn't really a problem?

Yes. Until Express gained the ability to auto-sync, I always used manual uploads to Garmin Connect, right off the device. It was much the fastest way to get new activities on there; I always found Communicator Plugin much too slow.

For now it's there in Modern and as of a week ago (when I uploaded a .fit off my VIRB Elite) it worked. I can't guarantee that Garmin won't get rid of it, but there's no good reason that they should. Of course, if your watch is one of the ones that don't automatically mount as a USB disk, then you're going to have to find another way. All of my devices mount that way, but I know there are some that don't.
