Suddenly can't connect Fenix2 to Garmin Express

Garmin Express wanted an update today, so I obliged (to GE 3.1.5.0). Ever since then (and garminconnect.com offering their modern theme), for some reason Garmin Express will no longer connect to/sync with my Fenix 2. I had been connecting to Garmin Express w/o any issue or difficulties. I'm tried rebooting the watch and rebooting the computer, and I still have the problem. I've also deleted it from my Garmin Express program, and it added the watch again, but still won't sync with it. I know I'm getting a good connection to the watch because I can still download workouts from the watch into endomondo, so it strikes me as an issue with Garmin Express.

Can anyone shed some light on what I can do? Thanks in advance.

Edit: I'm on a 13" Macbook Pro (late 2013) w/ Mavericks and no major software/hardware updates that would effect Garmin Express. I've also uninstalled/reinstalled Garmin Express, all to no avail. The watch is on firmware 2.9, but had connected successfully since upgrading to 2.9.

I am also having the same problem ! I followed your advice to REMOVE from Garmin Connect, then added it back. STILL WON't SYNC ..
  • If Garmin Express has suddenly stopped syncing to Garmin Connect and you have a mass storage device like a Edge or fenix, check the Activity folder on the device for any files that are 1KB in size and delete them. These small files are usually just tests or start and stops of less than one minute and contain no real activity data. These small files may be interrupting the sync process.

There is also the possibility that a regular activity file. One with a decent file size may contain corrupt data and interrupt the sync process. Manually uploading these files one at a time will confirm whether the data is corrupt or not. Removing corrupt data files from the Activity folder will allow sync to resume.

To manually upload files in Connect-Modern view, go to Activities-->IMPORT (upper right corner of table), browse to the file to be uploaded. Start with activities created just after the last successful sync date.

  • Hello Curt,

Thanks. I tried everything all over again today. Hard Reset and everything. The issue seems to be with the custom heart rate settings. I can't send these to the F2.

    Thanks

Perfect... this does the trick. Now syncing fine.
  • I am having problems updating firmware today. When plugged via usb it told me it can't find my F2. I updated GE and still have the same problem. Since getting my F2 its been fine - it started me from 2.7 out of the box and quickly updated to 3.1. It sounds like neither 3.2 or 3.3 add anything for me (I use an iphone) so I'm not concerned but I'd still like this to be sorted out.
  • hi i have kind of the same problem.

Express does detect my Fenix 2, however it says "Garmin Express does not support this device. Please download and use Garmin Map Updater"

    anyone had this problem??

    tnx
