Purchased 2014 Maps, can't find download or install on device

So, according to the Garmin website, I have successfully purchased (and paid for) the 2014 update to the North American maps, but, according to the site, I've already downloaded it and it's up to me to find it. I can't. I can find the 2011 maps I previously downloaded, and it's not in the same place. Downloading again doesn't seem to have any effect. Garmin Express doesn't know about the purchase. What am I doing wrong?
Have you followed Curt's instruction to activate the map purchase? If you have where are you having the issue? It helps work out what's happening if you explain exactly what you're doing and where it fails and how.
You purchased a Nuvi 55 device that doesn't have any preloaded maps so a map update cannot be applied to it. If you need North America maps you will need this product, City Navigator North America NT. Please read through the Requirements Tab on the products web page before purchasing. You purchased 2 Onetime Map Updates. I will submit credits for both of them but since they have to be processes from here in the US it will take at least 14 days for the credits to reach your account.
