Express and Nuvi550 Issue

I just purchased the updated 2014 North America Map but when I attempted to download it onto the 550, there was not enough memory space. The option of partially installing areas does not help me as I need Canada and all of the US for an upcoming trip. I purchased a micro SD card with the plan of installing the updated map onto the card, and putting the card into the 550. My research on the Garmin site indicated that this could be done using the Garmin Map Install program. While attempting to install the 2014 North America map to my Mac, it repeatedly stalls at "2 minutes remaining". Am I missing something here?
Does your Mac have a SD card reader? If so, do a Google search for "Garmin Maps Cloning Method" and you will find a different approach to this problem in another forum.

Since the 550 is stated by garmin as not supporting loading maps to the SD chip with Garmin Express it appears this is the real FAQ on the Garmin site: support.garmin.com/.../case.faces I'll try this and see if it works for the full 2015.20 update.
