Garmin Express - Menu Bar

How can I permanently remove the icon Garmin Express puts in my menu bar (OS 10.9.2)? There's nothing in the preferences of Garmin Express associated with it, it remains after Garmin Express is quit from the Dock, and it returns any time Garmin Express is started.

Garmin Express runs as a Process rather then a simple application. You can click on the black triangle and choose Quit to remove it from your menu bar. It will return when Garmin Express is opened. The only way to permanently remove the icon is to uninstall the application.

Thanks for the reply, but note that I don't care for this behavior.

I would agree with you on this although you cant blame Garmin as I have more and more apps doing this in OSX. You can use third part software to hide this if you search google. Just an option.
  • Has this been fixed yet? This bug is super annoying.

I have 'Automatically launch Garmin Express when a Garmin device is connected' and 'Auto launch at login' both unchecked yet when I open the Garmin Express application, an icon appears in my menu bar and even when I quit the app from the Dock the menu icon persists requiring me to manually close it.

Requiring user to close two processes every time an app is open is unacceptable. FIX IT!
