Endomondo import

At last, an answer, even if it IS not really acceptable. It is somewhat arrogant of Garmin to cut off users in this way before there is an alternative route in place. Until yesterday I have been using the Ant agent, with occasional forays to using Express, only to find it didn't support this (core) functionality, finding no adequate explanation on the interweb, then returning to Ant agent. Yesterday I was presented with an ultimatum message from Garmin about the new connect (which so far as I can see works just fine and dandy with Ant agent) and cessation of support for the route that works.

I was attracted to Garmin (from Polar) by its support for open standards and interoperability (after being burned by proprietary approaches used by the Finnish company). This goes quite contrary to that.

Garmin, you need to decide what your business model is, how you maintain customer value and how you make sure you don't drive your customers away.

Th link kindly posted by the Garmin care agent above would give you the impressions that GE does not store the files on your computer after upload. That is not the case. The post details the file locations and I have copied that detail for you below. Knowing this, it's a simple matter to locate the files and manually import them into Endomondo, Strava, SportTracks etc.

Whether you (or I) like it or not it's not for Garmin to work with 3rd parties, it's for 3rd parties to work with Garmin and change accordingly. If those 3rd parties cannot work out how to access the files from your computer or from Garmin Connect, then you will have to manually intervene. Garmin does things to (apparently) improve the service it provides to its customers (although sometimes those improvements might be debatable) not to other manufacturers or other sites seeking to make money.

And then there's https://tapiriik.com too. Ask them if thy'll provide a sync link to Endomondo. I assume you are already badgering Endomondo to undertake work to automatically sync with Garmin Connect. My experience with Endomondo has been less than stellar and I suspect the response will be no better than anything you get from Garmin
