Apple Silicon Support

Garmin, please update Garmin Express and release a NATIVE arm64 release for macOS.

Apple hasn't sold an Intel Mac in *years* and it's beyond embarrassing that zero effort has been put into support Apple users.

Reminder, Apple users have more disposable income than any other type of computer buyer. Do the right thing and put some engineering effort into this growing platform!

  • Garmin's hit a deadline now. The next MacOS release will NOT support Intel apps at all. All the Garmin apps for MacOS will be unusable by your customers.

Garmin Express, Basecamp, MapInstall, MapManager, POIloader... none of these apps will work in the next release of MacOS. Mac users will have to migrate to phone-based GPS solutions where there is continuously updated software support.

  • So there's still a year before Garmin really have to do something. Currently works with Rosetta but next year of course is a different matter. I'm sure something will be sorted. At the moment I'd like to see the issues fixed with the recent update!! We still don't have a fully working GE MacOS.

  • Hi - I've spent the last 4 hours deleting Express, reinstalling Express, hacking away at library files, etc all in the quest to understand why the four buttons don't work for any of the *six* Garmin devices I have purchased from you. I understand policies where you can't commit to software updates, but the lack of communication - such as a banner on any current update of Express with recommended workarounds for Apple M-Series laptops and/or Golden Gate OS users, is frankly, poor form. There is nothing on the Express Mac download page or specifications page to indicate this will not work as expected, nor is there any link to how to get the same features and functionality we paid in some cases MORE THAN THE COMPUTER ITSELF FOR, to work correctly.

  • Another user posted this in another thread:

"Today I accidentally discovered that by holding down and releasing the button for a longer time, the buttons are activated and opened. A normal tap or double-click does not work."

  • I’ve given up and moved on. You should get the message loud and clear and do the same. There are other devices. In unsubscribing from this thread I’ve taken my last step.  Good luck to the rest of you. May you find your direction. (See what I did there?)
