Can't help you with Fénix 9 support, nor true Apple Silicon native/Universal support, but I can help with avoiding the install problem. Download this zipped application and drag into your /Applications folder. https://workupload.com/file/58FWD8rvyEF Tahoe 26.4 and Golden Gate will still warn you about the future, but it's a step in the right direction.

You buy the most expensive products on the market. Products whose manufacturer can't even update its software for a platform that was released six (6) years ago (!) and then you have to come up with a DIY solution just so you can use them? Am I getting this right?

Awesome to see Garmin continues to be super consistent in their business practices, same as it's been for decades.

The device hardware is pretty good and reliable with two main flaws in many instances. 1) Terrible battery size/quality for some devices, especially the car navigation devices where the battery life/capacity degrades over a period of a few months to where they only work plugged in, and 2) On-board storage capacity with very little extra room to fit future map updates which always increase in size, and for many devices no option to use a microSD card to expand the storage. It's common for "lifetime" map updates to no longer fit in the device storage 1 or 2 years down the line forcing you to select only a map region or to choose specific countries or continents and manage adding and deleting maps using their super slow update process from a computer (on-device map updates frequently fail to work at least for me)

The on-device software and computer utility software has been very bad for a long time with many issues that sometime take a very long time for Garmin to fix. It's extremely clear and obvious that they have very little interest in investing the necessary financial and people resources into their software architecture and design work. This Rosetta thing is just one of the many examples. 6 years later they still haven't cared enough to rework their little utilities to properly support ARM Mac hardware that will soon make their software impossible to use. They will literally wait till the last possible day to announce some garbage alpha-level "beta" version that will be terrible and riddled with bugs, if we're lucky. Other than that I've had various issues with updating maps, having the device list installed maps properly, having the computer utility list installed maps, with % slope info on my bike computers (seems better now), with the same updates installing over and over by Garmin Connect unless you remember to reboot the device first, and many many other small things that Garmin doesn't care about. I'm hugely negative on all of Garmin's software "development work".

Garmin is their own best reason for users to choose *other* manufacturer's products.

Throughout their product lines, the fitness devices are their biggest seller, but you’d assume much resources are given to aviation and nautical, where mistakes would destroy them.

Coros and Apple, in particular, are getting closer, and competing at a level where Garmin have had to respond. 
What edges Garmin at the moment is the ‘exercise physiology’ features, but we see with Apple’s training readiness, that they understand where they need to shift to. 
I used an Apple Watch Ultra 3 for a year, and came back to the comfort of an F8, and I’ve toyed with getting the new AWU4, but what is stopping me, are very minor things, that may be addressed in future software updates, and the addition of a flashlight in the fashion Garmin have done.

I absolutely agree, it is a disgrace that a a company prides itself on its technological prowess and best in class status. Why is it ignorant of  a huge number of MAC silicone equipped laptops, whose users also own Garmin Smart watches/products. I am very disappointed that this issue has now festered for more than a year, despite Apples constant reminders that apps based on Intel processors will lose support in the very near future,probably when MacOS 28 is released. I have owned Garmin Smart Watches for 5 years and am on the cusp of moving away from them, even at the cost of much reduced battery life. Garmin, get this sorted!

"Potential support" You are kidding right.. Not far away and I bin all my Garmin products for a company that supports its customers.. And I post everywhere about it.. Wahoo must be going to have a bumper year in 2027/28
