Garmin, please update Garmin Express and release a NATIVE arm64 release for macOS.

Apple hasn't sold an Intel Mac in *years* and it's beyond embarrassing that zero effort has been put into support Apple users.

Reminder, Apple users have more disposable income than any other type of computer buyer. Do the right thing and put some engineering effort into this growing platform!

    It will work fine till you or apple remove Rosetta 2 - and then it will not work any more.

    i have the mac os 27 RC and it's still not working; it'll be a wake up call for all on monday when

    The only "wake up call" on Monday will be for people who reply without reading the thread first. Wink
    If you had scrolled up, you'd have seen that you can simply download Pacifist and install the app through there to bypass the pre-install check.
    Or, if you want a proper, native fix without downloading third-party apps: The installation only fails because Garmin's outdated preflight script lazily checks for an Intel CPU flag (hw.optional.x86_64).
    You can easily bypass their broken check by forcing Apple's native installer to run as an Intel process through Rosetta. Open Terminal and run this:
    sudo arch -x86_64 /usr/sbin/installer -pkg "/path/to/Install Garmin Express.pkg" -target /
    (Replace /path/to/... with your actual path to the downloaded .pkg file, e.g., ~/Downloads/Install Garmin Express.pkg).
    Hit enter, let it install natively, and the app will run perfectly fine on macOS 27.

    Appreciate the statement of work arounds, but the core question remains.  Why has Garmin not fixed its "outdated preflight script"?  I would think they would do so if only to avoid the bad press they are getting. 

    Most users aren't digging through support threads to find what hoops to jump through.  Most device buyers expect the manufacturer's software installer to just work.  (Imagine that!) 

    And, as has been said many times, Apple says Rosetta support is ending with OS 27 anyway.  Not even bothering to fix their install preflight script gives me the bad feeling that they do not plan to update Express for Silicon macs.

    Most people are not comfortable with workarounds like listed and have no idea what Terminal is.

    I can do this but quite frankly I shouldn't have too.

    Garmin has stated in this thread that they are working on a mac version man shrugging: light skin tone IN the meantime by not fixing the install issue they are cleverly deflecting attention away from spontaneous reboots Joy

    Garmin is a multi-billion dollar company. What’s their excuse for this?

    They happily push out all manner of hardware (how many watches exactly? A horse wellness monitor, speakers, trolling motors, the list is vast) but when the software that supports the hardware is non-functional or bug ridden (just look as the vast quantity of bugs in the current handheld GPS units), there is something wrong with this picture. Limited resources (to support the vast array of “stuff” they produce) indeed.

    Currently the only people that need to do this are people using BETA software.  You should not run beta software unless you are willing to put up with some stuff. Now if the issue exists in PRODUCTION then Garmin needs to do penance

    You are absolutely right. No regular user should have to open the Terminal or download third-party tools just to install a simple companion app.
    Just a quick correction on the timeline: Rosetta 2 won't be completely dropped until macOS 28, not macOS 27.

    Perhaps those regular users shouldn't be installing and running beta operating systems.
