v7.27 "Fixed an issue with Glances and Activity lists being moved" is not fixed on Forerunner 955

@E I still have this problem with v7.27 on my 955.  It is not fixed.

  • I have discovered what might be a workaround for this issue in 11 easy steps that worked for me at least...

    Short version:

Go into Express and add a glance from there, disconnect and then try again - all my glances now show up in the correct order

    Long version

    1. Connect watch to computer

    2. Start Garmin Express

    3. Select the watch

    4. Select Apps

    5. Select Reorder glances - you will see something here that doesn't correspond to the watch and GCM.  Mine only showed the folders

    6. Close this window and return to the Apps window

    7. Select "All" in the dropdown at the top right

    8. Add a glance that is NOT yet downloaded onto the watch e.g. Performance

    9. Go to Reorder apps and correct this order.  Mine showed an incorrect order.

    10. Disconnect the watch

    11. Reconnect the watch and do steps 3,4 & 5 again

Your glances and apps might now all be displayed as per what is on the watch.

It seems like the problem was some historic out-of-sync-ness and/or corruption between GE and the watch.  I suspect that when a glance is added in GE it reloads the glances from the watch and creates a new uncorrupted version of the list.

  • Hi @PubBike,

Thanks for the procedure. After disconnecting and reconnecting the watch (step 9), clicking on the apps (Garmin Express) still displays the glances out of order.

However, I do not have it out of order on my watch, though. It is a good sign.

I will conduct more tests and update the thread.

    Thanks again for the workaround.

    All the best, n

  • it may be that I moved the new glance that I addED in GE and that action may have been necessary for this to work.  I can't remember whether I did that or not.

  • If you are still having issues then raise a support call with Garmin Product Support.

  • I tested it, and in GE, the order still appears incorrect. However, in the watch, it maintains the correct order of the glances, which is a positive sign. Thanks again for the workaround. All the best, n

  • I contacted support a long time ago; however, there hasn't been much progress with the resolution.

  • n - I've just sent an email to you to follow up on this. Please be on the lookout for that so we can investigate further.

  • Oh dear.  I've just plugged my watch in to get a map update and afterwards the order of glances was messed up again.

I  reconnected and reordered them in GE and then disconnected.

When I looked at the watch again despite correcting the order in GE the order hadn't changed on the watch.

It seems like GE doesn't properly save the reordering of glances into the watch.

When I went into the phone the order was what I wanted but was out of sync with the watch.  The changes I made in GE had not been reflected on the watch but they had on the phone!

To correct the order I had to change the order in the phone and change it back and save it so that the watch would update.

My watch is now as I want it but I suspect the next time I connect to GE it will get messed up again.

It is very disappointing that a watch that is basically end-of-life in Garmin's view still has such a basic defect that makes updating the maps so inconvenient.

    I hope it gets fixed.
