Maps not updating

I can't get my Epix Gen 2 to see let alone download TopoActive maps. I was trying to update to the 2025.10 map set but it keeps saying Map Sync Failed on the device so I tried it via Express but that only gives me the choice of US or Canada/Alaska, not North America. I even tried to download those but that failed too.

I have deleted the GarminDevice.xml file and tried again, but after a 3 hour download it failed again, twice.

Now I have no maps at all, it just says my content is outdated.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Do I need to do a factory reset?

After a complete and total reset I started from scratch (it didn't want to pair, so that was a fun diversion), but eventually I was able to get it set back up, restored from backup, and somehow the 2025.10 maps appeared. Don't ask me how (although in the past two days I attempted to download them about 5 times). So I guess I'm all set?
