Records lost on Fenix 7 after connecting with Garmin Express Mac

I recently connected my Fenix 7 with Garmin express Mac. All what I did is just connected it with the PC, without any software updates. However, after the connection, the language changed and all the records (not history files, but records such as best 1 mile, longest run/ride, etc) completely refreshed. It also shows new records when uploading new activities to the Connect app. May I ask what happened and how to avoid this?
