I have a very "old" Garmin Nuvi 2797 with lifetime maps. I am current with software updates, etc. The latest North America maps are installed (Current Map Version: 2026.10 (North America) as of February 12, 2025). However, as much as I try, it will NOT download the maps from Canada. Searched the forum and found someone with a similar problem a few years ago. This person removed the SD card and was able to then install the Canada maps, omitting maps from Mexico. My device does not give me this option, and will not download maps without the SD card inserted. I have tried everything, including installing a new SD card (which I correctly reformatted, etc). I have tried downloading the maps about 3 or 4 times, each time to not have the maps from Canada. I search a city in Newfoundland, for example. It allows me to chose Gander, Newfoundland, but there is no corresponding maps or data. Am I missing something here? Time for a new Garmin GPS?
