Garmin Express MAC version is a hit and miss mess

Tried to update my Zumo 660 with new maps... When it finally connected (macOS errors: can't recognize drive errors constantly). It updated to something like 26% and hung, leaving the zumo with a corrupted, blank map. Latest version 7.24, running on apple silicon macbook... at some point it actually worked on a mac.

Tried a windows pc - updated the map on the first go with no complains.

Here are the steps (from my above post) I discovered that cause the eTrex units to mount properly using newer Macs under newer macOS versions.

1. Log out of the current MacBook user account: Apple (menu bar), Log Out After you're logged out, stay at the login screen.

2. Power on the eTrex GPS

3. Plug in the USB cable (still at the login screen)

4. Wait a minute to a minute and a half

5. Login to the MacBook

The drives are then both mounted and operate normally. Periodically, the GARMIN drive will not auto-mount and I need to use macOS's Disk Utility to manually mount the drive.
