Edge 840 not showing in Mac

I have a new edge 840 and am trying to connect it to my mac running Sonoma 14.5 on M3 chip but the device is not showing in finder and therefore also on Garmin Express.

I want it connected so I can download map files.

Anyone help appreciated. Thanks

The Edge 840 is using MTP for communication with your computer. Due to restrictions of MacOS it will never appear in Finder.

A second restriction is that only one program can access an MTP device at the same time, so if you have a program installed & running for communication with an MTP device it will block Garmin Express...

Garmin Express should find the Edge as long as there is not another program running that is using the MTP connection. You have to check that yourself.

If you want to access the files in the Edge directly you can use OpenMTP for that.
