Can’t install City Navigator 2026 on mac

Hello,

Just updated my Drive Smart 76 maps to the latest City Navigator 2026 maps.

All went well, but when I try to install it on my Intel Mac mini (for basecamp) running MacOs 15.3 it gives me an error.

On my thinkpad runing windows 11 it installed just fine.

I already tried different usb ports, usb hubs , and tried like 3 times. Any way to have a log and solve it?

  • I have the same problem on my Mac since 24/10/2024, when I tried to install City Navigator 2025.20.

Earlier installs of City Navigator didn't give any problems.

A few days ago I tried to install City Navigator 2026.10 hoping the problem would be solved...... was 'wishful thinking' and I am still getting the same error.

The suggested fix by support on 25/10/2024 (see below) didn't solve a thing.

I hope this problem will be fixed soon.

  • I tried to post my experience downloading City Navigator using Garmin Express on Mac. It diid't post for a reason of which I am unaware.  But I believe my experience may be helpful for those who have old Garmin Nuvis and are trying to update their 2026 maps.

    What I tried to post:

I want to share my experience updating the maps on my Garmin Nuvi 2460 with lifetime maps. I know, it's old, but I like the way it operates and I got it CHEAP!  Anyway, it had been working fine. Then the message appeared that a NEW Map update was available. I hooked it up to my MacBook Pro (OS 10.15.7.....I know, old and cheap again). I had the latest Garmin Express version available.  It recognized the 2460 and told me that updates were available. ALL RIGHT!!  It said I needed to have at least an 8 GB Micro SD chip. I had a newly erased and formatted 8GB chip (FAT 32) in the 2460.

I clicked on the proper "continue/accept" buttons and the download began, warning me that the download may take a LON

G time. It did. For the first 20% or so it went at a pretty good rate and then slooooooowwwed down  for the lat 80%. It took hours. So I just set it aside and let it do it's thing after the screen assured me "We've got it from here," and " be sure you don't disconnect/disturb" the proces.

It got done assuring me that the update was complete!  Great! Disconnected it. Went outside. Maps loaded and all I got was a symbol of "my car" and very very sparse map details........very sparse. Only the major interstates showed up if I zoomed out far enough. Even major city streets were rare and had no street names.

I did that process over and over again probably four times. Same result. Had the Garmin Express halfway-"bricked" my Garmin?  Then I read that this Nuvi could take up to 32 GB memory cards. Maybe that was the problem. After about six failures of around 2 to 3 hours download each, it was worth a try!!!!!

Got a new 32 GB card. Formatted it FAT again. Hooked it up to Garmin Express. Did everything as before. Hours later it was done and the update was complete. I clicked to "check for updates" and it assured me it was complete. Disconnected carefully. Went out side and turned it on. Now ALL the map data was there in glorious detail.

I guess the map updates have gotten pretty large. ON some of the older Nuvi's having a larger MicroSD card in there is important. It says 8 to 32 GB is acceptable, but at least on mine an 8 GB card did NOT work, and 32 is the largest card this one is supposed to be able to manage so don't go nuts and put on a 64 GB or 128 GB that may cause other issues.

Hopes that keeps someone from going nuts.
