Can not find or add device

Hello,

Garmin Express initially found my FENIX 8 but not now anymore.

I removed the device from Garmin Express and tried to add it again, but it can not find the device.

I tried several cables, reinstalled Garmin Express, rebooted my mac , nothing works.

Also Garmin Express does not find my Fenix 7X Pro when I attach it per cable, although I did not delete that device from Garmin Express

Can there be corrupted files which have to be deleted (because it worked initially) or does someone have another idea?

Thanks.

  • Did you install other software to access your fenix?

  • I have the SDK installed because I program apps and watchfaces. That's why I need Garmin Express: to download an uploaded beta version of my app to my Fenix 8 device via cable. But I did not use that software to directly acess my fenix. I also have not side-loaded an app from this mac yet.

I can access and sync my fenix 8 via garmin connect on my iphone.

  • I was expecting something like Android File Transfer. The point is that only one program can access an MTP device like the fenix. If that program is blocking the connection, another program won't find the device. AFT installs an agent for automatic startup that will claim the MTP connection.

I don't think that AFT is included in the SDK, so that cannot be the cause...

  • I tried again by reinstalling Garmin Express (first I deleted the directory

~/Library/Application Support/Garmin/Express) and now after some time it found my fenix 8.

I tried this though already earlier, and I do not know what or at all I did something differently.

What maybe corrupted the whole thing is that I uploaded several times beta versions of my app which also leaves marks in above directory.

I have a problem in my app which only occurs on the device, not in the simulator, which is thus annoying to debug.

Maybe I will use sideloading (with that Android tool) to avoid problems with Garmin Express, which I have to use when uploading beta versions...
