I fixed my "There was an error syncing to garmin connect" and this is how I did it

Hi Everyone,

This seems like a common issue for mac users and I looked a various solutions like re-installing and uninstalling garmin express which did not work.

I also did not want to hard reset my watch, so I decided to go through the hidden files that might be causing the issues.

The main folder that you want to go into is located in /Library/Application Support/Garmin/Express/RegisteredDevices

You will have a folder in there that will look like 34849842 as an example. Delete this folder, restart Garmin express and sync your watch.

Everything should sync ok now.

My work-around was to get rid of the latest 7.23 version of G.E. an reinstall 7.22, working again

Thanks, that ultimately worked for me as well but took a couple of uninstall/reinstall attempts w 7.22. I also deleted an IQ watch face widget that was queued up to install along with the update so that could have contributed to the issue. thanks again.

Same, I have Sonoma and I don't have that folder. What I did was disinstalling Garmin Express, installing the previous version (7.22.1.0), say "no" when it asked me to update the app, and everything synced perfectly. it must be an issue with the latest version of the software.

I had the same issue. For me one of the data fields I installed did not want to sync. I deleted it from the watch and then it synched.

Can confirm this works. Was hard for me to find the folder. Have to go to your user folder, make sure "show hidden folders" is enabled or whatever that setting is called, then you can see Library and follow the file path form there

In my case, using a Garmin 1040, I needed to delete Strava Segments from device folder and de-authorize Strava only for live segments in Garmin Connect App on the phone.
