Issue with Deleting Music and Audiobooks from Garmin Watch

I'm facing a frustrating issue where I cannot delete music or audiobooks from my Garmin watch because they are not visible in the Garmin Express interface. According to Garmin Express, there are no music or audiobooks on my watch, yet they are clearly still present on the device.

I previously encountered a similar issue with running workouts that remained stuck on my watch despite being deleted from Garmin Connect. The only solution I found was to perform a factory reset, which is far from ideal.

I'm concerned that the only way to remove the music now might be to reset the watch again. This seems to point to a buggy interface where data gets "stuck" on the watch, and I worry that Garmin is not adequately addressing these issues. It’s frustrating to deal with these problems without proper support, and I’m seriously considering switching to another brand if this persists.

For context, I'm using Mac OS 12.6.2, and both Garmin Express and Garmin Connect are fully updated.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there a solution that doesn’t involve a factory reset?

  • Hello,

I have the identical problem with my Garmin Forerunner 265 and Garmin Express. In my opinion the reason could be the latest update of Garmin Express. Since then I also can’t see my mp3 via Garmin Express (using mac also). On my macbook I use an older version of Garmin Express and there I can see all mp3.

My workaround until now is to delete my music via android file transfer manually.

Hopefully Garmin will fix that bug quickly.

    Greetings

  • I have the same problem with my Garmin Fenix 8 and Garmin Express. I am an Italian user…

  • Garmin are you listening? I still do not see my music on watch, despite Garmin Express telling me that 7GB is used up. Others apparently have the same problem

  • It seems that I found a solution by downgrading Garmin Express to Version 7.18.0.0. I did this downgrade by deleting Garmin Express from my mac. There is a possibility to install an older version by clicking on system requirements on the official Garmin Express Download Page. There you can download Express 7.18.0.0 (for use with OS X 10.16 ore older). I use OS 12.7.6 so I thought it doesn't working with my OS but it does perfectly. Now I can see my music again and I can sync my Forerunner 265.

Highly recommend this workaround as long Garmin has not released a stable version of Garmin Express.

  • It did help to see the files and delete them from Garmin Express, but the track info didn't disappear from the watch itself (I have a Forerunner 955) Joy
