TopoMaps not working

Hello,

I am not able to see any TopoMaps, I have a "map sync failed" error. I had map for Europe but I deleted it and now when I want to install it again, I received the mentioned error.

I've installed Garmin Express but still the same - I do not see any mappings to add or remove using Garmin Express.

Could you please advise how I can fix this issue?

  • What device do you have?

  • ahh, sorry I forgot to add the device. It is fenix 7 pro sapphire solar edition.

I've even performed hard reset but still TapoActive maps cannot be downloaded.

  • Couple of questions:

    - what version of Garmin Express do you have installed? Make sure it is the latest, current latest available is 7.22.1.0

    - Is the watch recognized correctly by Express?

    - Any other applications accessing the watch that are running at the same time? Like Basecamp or other tools to access MTP devices? If so fully quit these applications before starting Express

  • yes, the version is 7.22.1.0 and the watch is recognized. There is only 2 apps connected to the watch - Garmin Connect and Garmin Connect IQ. I just logout from both and still no available maps in Garmin Express. I tried again to download a map directly from the watch but the same error occurred "Map sync failed"

  • Sorry, I meant apps on your mac, like Basecamp or Android File Transfer (if you don't know that application don't worry), not any app on your phone and connected to your watch via bluetooth.

Are any maps already installed on your Fenix? See Menu > Map > Map Manager > Topo Active Maps.

You might also want to check the Fenix 7 Series forum, maybe others there have experienced and solved this issue.

  • there is the same issue reported and for the last month the issue is still unresolved. Well, I guess that Garmin will fix this bug one day :D
