Garmin Express Mac v 7.20.0.0 stays on Checking for updates

After updating to Garmin Express Mac v 7.20.0.0 seems to 'hang', I see the message Checking for updates with the update image/gif, but nothing happens. I don't get to see any device information. Same when I click on IQ Apps. This goes for all devices (in my case a Fenix 6x and an Edge 1040). What to do?

I did have this issue as well, but a complete reinstall of Garmin Express 7.20.0.0 fixed it for me. The instructions are on Full Uninstall of Garmin Express.

The offered solution to reinstall the whole thing worked... for one day. Then, problem returned. I rolled back to previous version and have no problems. Will wait for an official fix from Garmin, but it seems we have to be very patient.

after reinsttalll garmin express still cannot update the map for my edge 530 :

"There was an error installing the update"

This worked for me, too. I have nine Garmin devices linked to Garmin Express, but was having the never-ending "Checking for updates..." issue with only one of them -- an Edge 830 -- so I didn't really want to go through the full uninstall, re-install, and then linking all the devices again. So as a first try I simply removed the 830 from GE then re-added it. Simple.

A downgrade 7.20 > 7.19 works (at least) for me. No more infintive checking for updates (Edge 830).

I had to do the uninstall: https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=6nBhfHhXik18XrRU6BfULA and then install 7.21 for it to work.

Anyone still having this issue should update Express as the latest version, 7.21.0, has this in the changelog
