Ending a ride in Edge 500

Hi, I had a couple of corrupted rides in the last few days, on my Edge 500.  One could not sync to my Mac.

I looked through the instruction manual and I see you are are supposed to hold RESET down at the end of every ride?  I never did this on my Edge 500, but all my past rides uploaded ok.  Usually I would just hit STOP and then plug in to the USB cable, then sync after I saw the device conencted.

So you are supposed to hit STOP and then hold RESET and watch the count down at the end of every ride???  I was always a little confused about how exactly you end a ride.
