Update Express

Hallo,

  • Mine works as it should:

    Edge 530, 9.73

M1 MacBook Air, macOS Ventura 13.2

  • With the update to Express for Mac 7.16.1, Express no longer recognizes a used SD-card in the card management. After formatting the SD-card, a map can be installed once, after which it is no longer available for Express Card Management. However, the installation of download maps via Express still works. The Montana 700i also recognizes the memory card without any problems.
I'm sorry if I have to say that, but lately Garmin has only been messing up with its software, firmware and map updates.
  • Do you suppose that is why the map update to my Nuvi 255W will not complete? First, it tells me that there is not space to download the North America map update, then it says that an external storage is not found, then it goes ahead with the download but stops soon after starting (like, 17% of the way). If I format the SD card, will that solve it? Or, will I simply wind up with a blank card, no updated download, and so no map on my Nuvi? I suppose microSD cards are cheap and I could just get another, but really, Garmin?

  • Maybe - I can reproduce this on my Montana 700i. With the current Express 7.16.1, I can only do one installation with the card management, after which the card management in Express no longer recognizes the SD card.
After formatting, the SD-Card can be used again for one further Installation.
However, additional purchase-maps as downloads from the Garmin shop can be downloaded via Express on SD without this workaround.
  • @daknudsen, I prefer to have two cards, and rotate between them.  But before you purchase, verify the 255W uses what you mention, “microSD.”  My 265W uses an SD card, not the micro.
