Garmin NUVI 255W Map Update Stalls

I tried several times updating the maps, nothing worked, even after updating Garmin Express, and restarting my iMac computer, etc. etc. etc.

If finally worked, but only after I reformatted the SD Card using the following.  

  1. Type Disk Utility (in the Spotlight search box)
  2. Press Enter or Return on the keyboard. ...
  3. Click on the Erase option on the right.
  4. In the Format drop-down menu, select MS-DOS (FAT)
  5. Click Erase.
  6. The SD card will now be formatted and readable by the Garmin device.
