SD Card not recognized in Garmin Express

Hi all. I have a GPSMap 620 and I just purchased a Bluechart G3 map. In Garmin Express when the GPSMap 620 is connected it asks where I want to install it and an SD card is recommended. I went and bought a new Sandisk SD card of 32gb and I did the formatting to Fat32 (on a Mac) My Mac always sees the SD card, but not  Garmin Express. I also tried it with a original 8Gb Garmin SD card, and the same thing. So, I had to install the map on the device itself, but I would like to have a copy on an SD card for safety. If my Mac sees the SD card, why can't Garmin Express?

  • Did you get any answer? I have exactly the same problem. my mac and my PC can see the content of the SD card, but my Garmin cannot... This card has been working since at least two years, I have replaced it with a new card, formatted OK, PC and Mac see it in the Garmin. Same problem. The latest version of Garmin Express cannot update my GPS device...

  • I witnessed a similar issue, Have you guys found any solution? if yes, please share it with me as well. Thank you in advance.

  • I could not find any solution around, so I have contacted the community. I will post the answer here as well. Cheers.

  • Ensure the card is inserted into the Garmin device and is pushed in all the way. Some devices have a spring-loaded slot that will click softly when the card is fully inserted. Garmin Express will not detect SD cards inserted into a separate memory card reader.

  • I had this problem for years until I realized that my Garmin model (DriveAssist 50) had two card readers, not just one! The most visible reader slot is for the dash cam video. Another slot is in the underside of the frame, used for the map storage. The unit built-in internal memory is used for everything when the other cards are not detected.
