Garmin Express refuses to install Europe maps, but U.S. maps install fine

I have a Garmin Nuvi 270 with lifetime Europe and U.S. maps. Garmin Express has no problem installing the U.S. map. I can even install the map on an SD card using the "cloning method" described here: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/39231

However, no matter what I try, I cannot install the Europe maps. Garmin Express just gives me the cryptic "There was an error installing the update".

How do I fix this?

Does it work using the clone method? If not then your best bet is to contact Product Support for help

The Clone method works with the U.S. map, but not with the Europe map.

Product Support is no help. They just gave me some generic tips and offered me a discounted upgrade.

Given the age of your nuvi a discounted upgrade isn't such a bad idea.

I'm pretty sure that the inability of my Nuvi to install the Europe maps has nothing to do with the age of my GPS and everything to do with Garmin's servers refusing to give me what I've paid for.

So I no intention of buying another product from Garmin ever again, discount or not.

I agree the age of your nuvi has nothing to do with the inability to download the EU map, that wasn't what I said. I'd tried to send you a PM but you have that ability turned off. If you can PM me I can help you further if the FAQ hasn't resolved your issue.
