Tactix Delta Solar 'Cannot Unlock Maps'

Gday all,

Today I did my 3 weekly charge and software/map update for my Tactix Delta Solar through Garmin Express (Mac). There was a Garmin Express Update required to be installed waiting for me along with a map update. Once complete and on unplugging the watch I received 'Cannot Unlock Maps' just after the Loading maps indication you see when unplugging. Garmin Express says my watch is up to date and all maps loaded (I think).

Has anyone had this recently? Suggested fix?

Cheers,

Andrew

  • I still have this problem as well

  • Ended up getting a new unit and obviously don't have the message. Garmin Express has a bunch of map updates available for the new unit but I'm not going update till there is a fix for this.

  • Despite today's email about an updated version of Express fixing this problem, it still persists. Version 7.9.0.0 didn't fix this problem.

  • I think you are wise to ignore any updates until this gets fixed.

  • After the email yesterday that a new version of Express would fix this, I have spent a few hours in both a Mac and a PC trying to solve this. After going through their instructions multiple times, it’s clear this problem is not solved yet.

  • Have you tried the new express yet? Haven’t had a chance to try a sync after I downloaded it yesterday.

  • I did late Thursday, but it didn't change anything.

  • I'm not sure if you've tried my suggestion from a few pages back - I manually backed everything up (I'm on a Mac) and then deleted all my maps, including the ones not from Garmin. I then reset the watch (long press on the light button) and then added the Garmin maps first to see any of those triggered the error, and then bit by bit added all the ones I had previously on the watch to see if any of those triggered the error. So far it's been fine, even with the new GE. Bit of a PITA to do, but worked for me. Good luck!!

  • I just wanted to follow the procedures offered by Garmin a little time ago. I red those procedures very carefully and found out that the time and effort to spend in order to solve this problem go way beyond my responsibilities. I have to safe some folders, while I have to erase others. Then I have to instal some maps while I have to install others later.

Honestly, if this watch would have cost me 250 dollars - yes, I could even afford all this trouble. But since this watch costs around 1.200 dollars - no. I'm not willing to go through all these steps. Expensive equipment is usually expensive because it solves our problems in daily life. For the moment it seems that I have to solve a problem which I haven't created. Sorry Garmin, I love your watch very much, but I'm not willing in paying interests for debts I haven't committed and I'm pretty sure that from the same place where the problem comes from lies at the same time the solution. Please dig on and let us all know.

    Cheers.
