Anyone know when map updates will ba available again?

So both a question and rant. I'm about to leave on a longish trip and I'm told by tech support that map updates are not going to be available for an indefinite period because some states (mine included) have finally changed exit numbers to mile postings. This is for a Dezi 570.

Like everyone else we haven't gone anywhere for more than 18 months, so my maps are two rears out of date.

I could care less about exit numbers. Changes in height and weight limits and truck restrictions however are critical. This is the only reason I still have a standalone GPS, Google Maps will reliably get me where I want to go in a regular vehicle.

How can it possibly be in my (or even Garmin's)  best interest to deny me the opportunity to upload the newest available map (March, 2021)?? I note that Google Maps hasn't updated most of the exit numbers yet either, and the sky hasn't fallen, and people are not wandering around lost.

What a stupid, frustrating policy.

Has anyone been able to extract more forthcoming information about when the map updates will be re-enabled?

  • I feel the same way... customers support just told me that map updates have been turned off for the trucking devices... I use my gps for work... it's ridiculous...

  • I agree, but I do care somewhat about exit numbers, especially in unfamiliar areas with crowded interchanges with A, B, C choices that determine whether you go east or west, north or south. However, if you are looking for who to blame, federal highway officials cooked up this waste of time and money while letting potholes grow unmolested, so I can sort of understand Garmin waiting until enough numbering changes have taken place to make it worth updating maps.

  • I respect that....
