Edge 1000 map reinstallation fails

Garmin Express 7.6.0.0 running on MacOS 10.14.6 reports map installation fails when trying to reinstall maps on Edge 1000, sw ver 15.50.

Result is maps cannot be unlocked.

Tried multiple times.

The Garmin device and the SD card eject improperly prior to completion. No, the Mac has not gone to sleep...

How did you purchase the maps? On sd card or download?

maps on sd cards are locked to the card. The card can be moved from device to device.

downloaded maps are locked to the device and can only be used on a single device.

Thanks for responding. The maps in question are the built-in maps which come pre-installed on the 1000. Garmin Express provides updates to them occasionally, and offers an option to reinstall them. It is this reinstallation which fails. I only added the sd card when one of the software updates required it.
