Detailed maps disappeared after upgrade

Hello, yesterday I used Garmin Express to update the maps in my Nüvi 55. I need to use a SD card (which seems to be read correctly) for the upgrade. In any case, after the upgrade the detailed map had gone, and I was left with a generic no info map with just the largest highways. I tried to upgrade the map multiple times but no luck. Any idea what I should do to get back to a road map of some sort?

I am on a mac.

What is shown in Settings, Map&Vehicle, myMaps?

Have you had maps on the card before? If not what size card is it and how is it formatted?

Nothing, it is empty. yes before this update the maps were on the card, it worked without issues.

Well that's strange. I'd check the card and maybe do a format so you know it is empty, or at least check the trash and empty that, so that there is ample space on the card for the update.

well the card is mostly empty so it should not be a space issue

Ok, I just tried formatting the SD card, and the nüvi still does not see the map for some reasons -- the map is on the SD card BTW

So am I understanding this correctly. You've formatted the card, to FAT32 I hope, the map is on the card (how do you know that?) but your nuvi isn't reading it?

Correct, I formatted that card FAT32, reinstalled the map, which is on the card since I can see it from my computer, but the nuvi is just not reading the card. Telling what is on a card is not rocket science.

What folders and files are on the card? What size are the files?

There is one folder called 'Garmin', and inside there is a map gmapsupp.img of 3.67 GB plus files gmapsupp.unl gmapsupp.gma
gmappupdate.gsd

Looks correct. Only thing I can suggest is a master reset
