Drivesmart 55 - Garmin Express error - now corrupted maps

Hi,

thanks for any help in advance! I'm a bit stuck and I've had a good trawl online with nothing that's helped so far.

I have a mac on 10.15.07 and was updating two of my garmin 55 mts sat navs using freshly installed garmin express software.
Both devices had errors appear on express mid install and now show me "maps are corrupt and cannot be used. go to garmin.com/express to download the latest maps" every time they are turned on.
I have since reset the sat navs with a hard 12 second reset.
Reset them via the in built menus,
Removed the devices from garmin express, fully uninstalled express, reinstalled express, re-added the devices, reinstalled the maps in express.
I've updated the maps via wifi on the devices themselves.
Tried another reinstall map via express.
And so far....nothing has worked.

Any suggestions or pointers? Thanks! Alex.

Well if you wish to try to remove the 'corrupted map' the main map is called gmapprom.img and is in the hidden .system folder.

will the Garmin startup als normal after that?

Well it will start but with no maps

will I be able to update the cards through the wifi of the Garmin?

Garmin had me send back my faulty devices and replaced them for refurbished units.

There was no fix they could suggest and wifi updates as suggested here were no help either sadly.

this issue is still not solved. It is cleary a fault with garmin express in combination with mac. The files stay corrupt, so i am not confidend that my garmin is ok. it would b nice if Garmin would come with a (working) solution!

Just bought mine today (Europe), did all update from garmin Express on MacOS and got the "Corrupted maps" message on the Garmin, tried to force install the maps again but the error persist ...

Which device? Which map? Surprised this error occurred on a new device unless you either disconnected it while map transfer was still in process or your device hadn't been charged sufficiently when you started.
