updated Garmin Express, seems to be broken.

I was prompted to update Garmin Express for Mac to latest  version. I did so, and express crashes everytime I try and use it. This is on Mac 11.2.1, most current released version. I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, but express does not work. Every time it tries to connect to a device, 6xpro, the software hangs. Can you point me to the previous version which worked well. thanks

  • on a whim, I updated macOS to 11.2.3 and reinstalled express. seems to be working at the moment. Does not make sense as the previous OS met the requirement for the current version of express.

  • A similar problem here by the look of it.

I've just received my new motorhome satnav and I've been trying to update the maps.

I use Mac OS Catalina (10.15.5) and it's up to date.  It would appear that Garmin Express has updated the satnav OS but the map update process hangs at Step (Restart) and it doesn't matter what I try, it refuses to continue.  I've tried everything suggested elsewhere on the Forum but no progress beyond Restart, zilch!

In desperation I connected it to my WiFi and, after one fail, away it went for a 4 hour slog through 11Gb of data.  It seems the software within the satnav works to download the data OK.  Proof will be if it completes successfully at the end of the download.

I'm more than a bit disappointed because I came back to Garmin after getting fed up with the unusable update software that TomTom now produce for Mac - and the fact they dumped all support for my old faithful, perfectly functional Go520.

I was aware that a few companies failed to take note of the fact that Mac stopped supporting any 32 bit software but they gave years of warning.  I hope this shambles isn't a result of that.
