Connecting Garmin Edge 820 to new MacBook Pro

Hello.

I am having trouble connecting my Edge 820 to my new MacBook Pro. I have tried all the tips and trix I found on Google. Using the original Garmin Cable, holding the lap/reset button when connecting and so on. When connecting the unit, it shuts down and starts up in USB mass-storage mode for 2-3 sec and then restarts and starts as normal. On my new Mac I don't have any regular USB ports, only USB-C, so I need to use some sort of HUB to connect (I have tried several). I suspect this is the issue, but how to solve this?

When I connect it to my wife´s older MacBook Air that has an integrated regular USB port everything works fine.

Can anybody help me?

Best regards Torleif

  • I have the same issue. My M1 gets past the first Garmin Express page and you can see its name in the bar at the top. Then at the next page it says plug in your device and never finds it. It works fine on my iMac 27.

  • I don't have a M1 MacBook Pro but do only have USB-C so have to use a hub/connector. That works fine. My understanding is that:

When connecting the unit, it shuts down and starts up in USB mass-storage mode for 2-3 sec and then restarts and starts as normal.

is/was normal for some strange reason. What version of Garmin Express do you have? The latest is 7.4.0.0.
