too much guesswork with mac version of garmin express

I think this is the 2nd year in a row I've started my Nuvi 58 software update on our Mac and had to give up and use the PC version in order to see that anything was actually happening. The PC version tells you how much time is remaining in the download etc, while the Mac version just sits there doing I-know-not-what.

  • Yeah! Lets have a meter that says "now downloading from garmin", "now sending to your device", and for each list how many bytes have been moved and need yet to be moved. I want byte counts, not wishy-washy estimated times. It's very confusing when it says the download is complete, yet you have to wait an hour or so for it to update your device.

  • One more thing: If there's not enough room on the device, it would be nice to know that at the start, rather than hours later when it actually runs out of space trying to write the map, and puts out a cryptic error message.
