GE is not working with macOS Big Sur 11.0.1

Garmin Express does not work on Big Sur.  I am using a Garmin cable connected to my Forerunner 220.  What's up[?  Will Garmin release an update.  I can't even find GE on the Mac App store.

  • I've just attempted to add my Garmin Forerunner 310XT as a device on Garmin Express on my Mac (OS Big Sur 11.0.1) I have the Ant+ Stick plugged in and the watch itself is charging via USB ... but Garmin Express says "We found an ANT Stick but didn't find a device". Any ideas?

  • 1. Upgrade to the latest Big Sur. (But not sure if the Ant stick is supported by Big Sur since it's quite old.

    2. Don't charge the watch while you're doing this?

  • Garmin Express and our Drive 50, DriveSmart 50 LMT, and all the other GPS we have bought over the years, are DEFINITELY NOT working with the Big Sur update on our MAC!!!  This is the most recent problem to plague these units, which have had constant issues with their micr SD cards not being recognized, after I purchased several, to replace the original ones, and ALL were to Garmin's specifications.  I think it is time to visit an alternative brand, or maybe go back to Tom-Tom.  How many emails, posts, and p[hone calls do I have to make?  I use my iPhone with Waze now, daily, rather than the fancy GPS, and the extra apps I bough (which BTW, they don'y all work either), when I upgraded my iPhone, the traffic cams in PhotoLite stopped working, and I already paid for it!

  • Well, spent a lot of time on cables and suggestions provided in this forum - all it actually takes is to USE A SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT for the Garmin Express to recognize my device

From a security perspective, I'm baffled :(  But that was it

  • SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT

    On a Mac?

  • Yes. I use a normal user for all my usage on my Mac, without administrative privileges, so any unwanted issue might not destroy my OS, backups etc. I'd suggest to investigate such practices if you did not know of them ;)

Appreciate the advice but I left that paranoia behind when I began using Macs 20+ years ago.
