Garmin Edge 800 not connecting to macbook air

I am having problems connecting my Garmin Edge 800 to my MacBook air. I am MacOS Mojave Version 10.14.6. When I plug my Garmin into the USB port nothing happens. It will charge when plugged into the wall. This began to happen last week.

I have tried reinstalling Garmin express with no luck.
