Garmin Drive 51 - Cannot get past "Restart your Device" MacOS

I have a new Garmin Drive 51 and I cannot get past the the "Restart your Device" stage of the software update on MacOS. Are there any fixes for this? Help! Traveling in three days!!!!!
When is this happening? If while doing an update disconnect from your Mac and manually restart the device. Once it's loaded the update switch off then reconnect it and run Express again
It fixed itself. I do not know how the update got done since this terrible software gives you no clue. But I just left it and came back after an hour. I removed the GPS from the software and when I added it it let me update the maps.
