500 server error while trying to log in / add a device

Hi, i am running a iMac 5K with Mojave (10.14.3) and have the latest Express 6.12. (which autoupdated after I installed a old 6.11 version for a try)
I needed to exchange a device Vivosport because of a RMA replacement.
But as soon as I try to add the device and click on the "login" button I used to get a screen to enter userid and password.
now I only get e screen "500 server error"
Syncronising the already known "installed" devices worked, even updating maps worked (until I did the next step)

I followed the tips about complete deinstall, removing the plist (prefs, app. support, cache) emptying trash and rebooting

no success, now I have no devices and can not add any new ones :-(

trying to do the same with a WIN10 machine on the same network worked without problems.
  • Same behaviour on an „older macbook air“ running macos 10.13.6,
express did argue that i needs update (6.4 was on the old machine and did not support Fenix 5x+)
    autoupdate to 6.12
and now i have 500 server error on the second machine.

called garmin germany support and they opend a case. (There had been others today with the same issue)

I'm having the same issues with the same OS and Express versions.

Would be nice to get my watch updated!

Hi thbrod, it was me! The only advice I received was doing the update and registration with an windows PC. This was working fine, but going back to my mac the Fenix 5x plus was still not visible on the mac.....Now I have all my old devices on the mac and the 5x+ on the window machine That's bad and uncomfortable.
  • Hi,
I have same problem on my MacBook Pro. it's says [h=2]500 Server error[/h]
  • Hi,

I have the same problem on my MacBook Pro with Mojave 10.14.3. If I run the Garmin Express on the virtual windows 7 image, no issue, everything works well.
  • Hey, same problem here on my old MacBook Pro running High Sierra and also on my brand-new MacBook running latest Mac OS......

Same issue here, upto date Mac OS 10.14.3, latest Garmin express 6.12, 500 error when trying to 'sign in'. I've done the de-install/re-install dance. no joy, support ticket raised

Yep, same issue... Garmin says they are actively working on it... if the problem goes away I'll re-post here to let others know... please do the same if it starts working again.

Logged in Garmin express without issue yesterday. Today I updated to the newest version and went to add a new device, get the 500 server error. Worked totally fine 24 hours ago and now it doesn't work at all.

Got my new Garmin Fenix 5 Plus and can't update it from my new MacBook Pro, same problem as all of you. What a disappointment.
    Dear Garmin,
You really need a CI/CD system tied to your software builds that includes simulated tests like this, or you need more QA people to identify things like this. This shouldn't happen in modern software releases.
