6.10 Cannot connect to the Garmin Express Service

Since updating to GE 6.10 I can no longer launch the app. It quits with the error message 'Cannot connect to the Garmin Express Service.'
Running Mac OS 10.14.1 on a 2015 MacBook Pro 15"
• Not much use but It's fine on my 2018 MacBook Pro 15" Mojave 10.14.1. Try a restart, delete, reinstall perhaps?

Having the same issue I guess.

Just tried to update maps on a nuvi. Started Garmin Express, but it forced itself to be upgraded.

End result: the dreaded "Cannot connect to the Garmin Express Service" error, which is not surprising as that service isn't running at all.

Tried on 2 macs, same identical resultp

Tried the complete wipe as documented here: https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=6nBhfHhXik18XrRU6BfULA no luck at all: the Garmin Express Service still doesn't start.

Tried rebooting a number of times, no effect at all.

Out of desperation, I tried to start the service manually. I finally got something of an error message:

$ /Applications/Garmin\ Express.app/Contents/Library/LoginItems/Garmin\ Express\ Service.app/Contents/MacOS/Garmin\ Express\ Service ; exit;
2018-12-04 17:09:00.536 Garmin Express Service[730:15858] Garmin Express Service 6.10.0.0 has started.
2018-12-04 17:09:00:538 Garmin Express Service[730:307] Garmin Express Service 6.10.0.0 has started.
2018-12-04 17:09:00:543 Garmin Express Service[730:1703] Loading devices
2018-12-04 17:09:00:557 Garmin Express Service[730:1703] Calling whereami for country code US
Illegal instruction: 4

Which is kinda weird as I'm for sure not in the USA. And makes me wonder what that software is up to anyway.

Regardless, "Illegal Instruction: 4" isn't saying much at all and pretty useless in trying to figure out what this "service" wants.

Trying hard to stay positive here, but Garmin really needs to step up big time if they ever want to ever sell me anything else.

swa66, i'm having the exact same problem on my 2018 macbook pro 15" running Mojave. I uninstalled Express as per Garmin's FAQ, and reinstalled 6.5.1.0 and it works. This may have to be the temporary solution until Garmin figures this out for everyone. Hope this helps.
• We have reported this issue and our developers are currently working to resolve it. In order to do so, we will need specific log files from your computers for Garmin Express and Mac Crash logs. Please contact Product Support in your region to be added to our existing case and instructions to submit the files we need.

Thank you.
• Same. Won't start on Mojave. But, I removed my Garmin save files with:

sudo rm -Rf Library/Application\ Support/Garmin

And then uninstalled Garmin Express and reinstalled. Now it works.
• Oh, it starts, but now the app says, "Sorry, we're having a problem communicating with our servers."
• Hasn't worked for me. I guess I'll be installing the Windows version and running it in Parallels until Garmin issues an update.
• Just started with me too :-( Been fine the past few days. I've changed nothing since the update.

...so I uninstalled, reinstalled and it works!
• Ditto. macOS High Sierra Version 10.13.6.
Also see the "Illegal instruction: 4" in the log file
