Cannot communicate with servers

Not sure when this started, probably a couple of days ago, but from my MAC I cannot connect to the Garmin servers. It sync's and updates activities but not apps.

What's going on Garmin?

    ...stop!

That does not verify if it's a device issue because it does not use the device ID it's just your browser displaying a webpage.
  • It lets you know your Mac can communicate with Garmin servers. If it can then the issue is likely to be within your setup.

No it does not in the way Express communicates and no it "likely" isn't.

It validates your browser, talking http can display a web page and that's all. This has nothing to do with Garmin Express, the device, the setup. Nothing.

The problem is either with Express or the Garmin back end or knowing Garmin, both.

Do you own a MAC? Do you own an Fenix?
  • Then call Garmin for help.

One of the users in the descent forum section has said that it's a fault in the Asia Pacific region. Affects both mac and PC. It blows my mind that the engineers at Garmin know its a fault and can't so much as sticky a forum post about it.....

I tried contacting support.... I got the equivalent of "have you tried turning it off and back on again" - a complete waste of time.

Yes I have and they have had the ticket for weeks. They have the password for my account, they have a complete copy of my watch and they seem unable to help ....

Another software update to 6.8 and same issues of not being able to connect on my iMac, uninstalled old version 6.7 which created same message, a few months ago earlier version worked fine....here is Garmin report on issue when it fails to connect:

    Process: Garmin Express

    Path: /Applications/Garmin Express.app

    Identifier: com.garmin.renu.client

    Version: 6.8.0.0 (6080000)

    Date/Time: 2018-09-10 05:14:51 +0000

OS Version: Mac OS X 101300

    Application Specific Information:

Terminating app due to uncaught exception: NSInvalidArgumentException

Reason: *** -[__NSPlaceholderDictionary initWithObjects:forKeys:count:]: attempt to insert nil object from objects[1]

Any suggestions on moving forward with Garmin Express on my iMac for my Garmin boating devices......

  • This remains an issue with Garmin Express 6.8.0.0 and Fenix 5x Beta 10.55... grrr!
