Garmin Express phantom files on Edge 510 and Epix

When attempting to update my Edge 510 and epix, I received errors that "Some files could not be uploaded to Garmin Connect". I search through the activites folder via my Mac, but cannot find the referenced files. I've deleted all activities off both devices but still get the same error.

I just did a full reset of the Edge 510, synced and it seemed to work. But Garmin Express showed a software update. When I plugged the device back in, during the sync I received the same error for a file that magically appeared (I didn't even turn the device on to use before plugging in again).

Garmin epix 3.40
Garmin Edge 510 6.10

    I have the Epix and also a similar problem where in garmin connect it tells me there is an update for my device, But when i go into garmin express it tell me im upto date. this epix software is very buggy and sometimes reboots like its crashed or something. i have v3.40 installed.
