Error installing Map: Europe 4.0 update

This is a similar issue to this closed topic, just a different map.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Express. I have reset the watch. I have tried a Windows laptop. I have done all I can think of including deleting gupdate files like support chat suggested and still no joy!

Regarding the Europe 4.0 map update; is there anyway to get the files from someone that has successfully got them or from their servers without using Express?
  • Same problems, eventually after 48hrs of trying, determined the sd card was too slow. (It was the 8gB (x1) )card that came with the Edge Touring... Replaced the card with a (x10) card and maps upgraded fine. Installed the Openstreetmaps routes on the old one with no issues at all so am using that as a backup for the next upgrade fiasco.
However you can't just copy the Garmin maps from one machine to another as they are locked to your device as I understand.
  • New it was too good. However all is well now.
First problem, original 8gGb card that came with the Edge was a Class 1 and so things kept timing out.
Second issue, Despite Express saying you need a card between 4Gb and 32Gb (ie the 8 should be fine) this is untrue. My faster card was a 16Gb card and after all the maps were eventually downloaded and created, they took 12Gb, so you need a 16Gb card at least.
Lastly, after it downloaded all the maps, of course the Edge refused to see them... Well, a factory reset solved that.
It takes a Long time to load all the maps on first reboot, after that it is ok.
Backup your data before you start (copy to the hard drive or somewhere...
    Hope all that helps,
