GE does not communicate with servers - update not possible

Version 6.1.1.0 doesn't communicate since some hours with the Garmin servers. --> no update of my new fenix 5x is possible. :-( :(
  • Same here I am unable to install a safety camera subscription I have just purchased, I have complained to support but I am really running out of Patience with Garmin just constant problems and frustration all the time with there software

  • Just installed the latest Garmin Express Update 6.1.2.0 still no access to the store or able to update safety camera subscription so have logged in on the web site and done it that way bypassed Express I have not tried removing and re adding my devices why should I go through all this to purchase an update I may try re adding them later when I have time a simple purchase should only take a minute or two not all day
  • Only takes a minute or so to remove and re-add your device too :)
  • Removed one of my Zumo Sat Nav's including the back ups shut everything down restarted GE added it and still unable to access the safety camera option, store is still temporally unavailable you can get the new definitions for an existing subscription but you can not install a new subscription using GE the only way to do it is using the web site

    As many in this thread I have updated Garmin Express to its latest version (6.1.2.0), I have checked my network preferences, and removed and re-added my devices. Still the same error: "There was a problem connecting to the Garmin servers."

    credit to SUSSAMB this worked for me. Removed device then re installed and it connected first time

  • Never seen that error, and as noted here and elsewhere it normally points to a local issue rather than a Garmin one.



    Regretfully that is the only error I am getting with trying to upload from Edge and Vivofit
  • Call Garmin again if you feel you still have an issue as these forums are mainly user-to-user. Don't assume problems are generic and Garmin 'must know' about them, far more often it's an issue at the user end.


    Have just spent an hour on the phone to Garmin. Still not working and the reason might and I emphasize might be the inability to update one data sharing preferences. I updated Express and it could not contact the server, went in to update the preferences...same problem. Am awaiting now an email from Garmin.
  • Mine has now upgraded to synchronising via GE/Wifi and Connect mobile, however no data shows in Connect (no steps/floors/activities etc.) and funnily enough Garmin support also mentioned data sharing preferences.I too have to now wait for an email from the software engineers.
