Garmin Express shows old map, Garmin Map Update has new map??

I have Lifetime North America updates for my Zumo 665LM.

Why in the world does Garmin Express - the software recommended by Garmin, show that the latest map available is 2018.30, while the old Garmin Map Update shows that the latest version of the maps is instead the newer 2019.10 (see screenshot...)???

Another question. While Garmin Map Update is apparently not being improved by Garmin since the latest version is 4.5.1 from May 2012 (almost 6 years ago...). However this "old" software is, besides being able to download newer maps, also allows the flexibility to customize the type of maps that can be installed on the device.

For example, I am right now out-of-space on the Zumo, and using the Garmin Express only allows me to install the full US+Canada maps, which fills up the device and is causing it to freeze. I just used Garmin Map Update to install the the US map only, not Canada.

Why is Garmin not continuing to improve Map Update, as it (at least for me), works much much better than Garmin Express...? ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1310333.jpg

The latest map was pulled by Garmin due to an issue with it so I believe. This is why Express is no longer showing it. As for MapUpdater being more flexible yes it is in certain respects, and for those who want that flexibility it still works. It can't however update software, sync fitness devices etc whereas Express can as it's far more capable.
