Tracker Takes A Long Time To Be Recognized & To Eject Question

Hi!
I have A Vivoactive HR and connect it to my relatively ancient (2007) MacBook Pro running OS X 10.11.6 with the charging cable into a USB port. The computer has USB 2.0.

When I connect the tracker to the computer it takes between 3 and 4 minutes for it to show up as a connected drive.
When I open Garmin Express & sync it, or do anything else while connected, it reacts quickly and there have never been problems. It charges well, and quite fast, while connected via USB.

When I eject the tracker, it takes over 5 minutes for the drive to be ejected from the computer. I eject either by right-clicking on the icon on the desktop & choosing "Eject Garmin" or by pressing the Eject symbol in Mac's Finder. (The Eject icon on the tracker's watch face doesn't do anything.) Other USB devices (disk drives, etc) connect & eject quickly.

I've tried many re-boots and both USB ports with no changes. Once I tried with a powered USB hub, but the computer never saw the tracker.

Is this slow connect-disconnect normal for this device? Conversely, do you think it is a problem with the computer or OS X?

Thanks For Your Thoughts on this situation!
