garmin courses (transfer error)

When trying to transfer an activity to my device I get the error: garmin courses (transfer error)

I'm getting this error message when trying to transfer any of my courses to either of my Garmin Edge devices (820 and 1000). I have also rebooted my computer, devices and re-installed Garmin Express, but the problem persists.

Is anyone else having this problem? I wonder if it is a problem at Garmin's end.

ps. I found that if I save the activity as a course and then tried to send it to device it worked, but sending it to device as an activity without saving as course first did not.
  • You found the Garmin way of doing to - save an activity as a course, then send the course.

    Other aspects of getting courses to your device, together with a plethora of solutions have been discussed many times in countless threads as you will find if you either look through the threads or do a search.

    Thank you philipshambrook.

    However in the past I've always been able to transfer an activity direct to the device without having to save it as a Course first. So I was curious as to why there would be a sudden change in the software's behaviour. As such I thought it perhaps a temporary glitch or bug in the system and therefore previous posts on the subject would not have been relevant to finding out if other users were experiencing this now.
