Vivosmart HR is not connecting

I'm running Garmin Express on Yosemite with a Vivosmart HR band.

I have the USB plugged in and the battery icon shows up on the main screen with a little plug icon to the right of it. If I unplug it from the USB that charging icon vanishes so I'm pretty sure it's connecting.

My Garmin Express software keeps saying that the device is not connected.

I know that on the Vivosmart you have to depress the battery icon until it flips to USB mode, but the manuals say that this is not required for the HR. I did try anyway but it didn't help.

I've rebooted my Mac and reset the device (hold the button for 10 seconds).

I was able to connect it earlier today without issue.
