GE is saying my fenix 3 is connected when the device is not connected. or saying not connected when it is connected. I usually need to connect the cradle, and then unplug it and reconnect before it will be recognised by the computer.
For quite a few versions of Garmin Express (GE) on OSX 10.12.1 and previous versions my F3(v8 and previous versions) has not interacted correctly. Currently on GE 4.2. Here is what I did today a few days ago to illustrate the problem:
Plug F3 cradle in to computer
GE said connected, but won't sync
Shut down GE and quit.
Restart GE.
GE says not connected, so can't sync.
F3 shows charging screen.
F3 Is not appearing on the finder.
Remove cradle.
Takes 40s on F3 to get watch face back.
Plug F3 cradle in to computer
Takes 34s to connect
GARMIN is in finder
GE says not connected.
Press sync, the spot turns green and it syncs
Return to GE home page
GE says not connected.
Click on F3 device to sync
GE says not connected.
Click on sync
GE says connected
Sync completed
Click on GE home
GE says not connected.
Can't eject from F3 because "not connected"
Eject in finder
Shut down GE
Quit GE
Remove cradle.
Plug F3 cradle in to computer
Waited for GARMIN in finder
Started GE
Green dot
Synced OK
GE Home
Eject device from GE home page
GE still shows green dot
GARMIN no longer in finder
F3 returns to watch face
GE home page still shows green dot
Go to GE sync page
“Plug in your device"
Is there a problem with GE or the f3?
