Garmin Express unable to connect to background service

I read through the previous thread, now closed, that dealt with this issue. I tried everything, uninstalled, re-installed, re-started, but I still get the message "Garmin Express unable to connect to background service and will now close." I've used this for years without a problem until recently. Is there an update to this issue? I'm running OS X Yosemite, version 10.10.5. I've tried re-installing the latest version of Garmin Express from the Garmin site, still no luck.
