New to GPS, need help on option for nuviCam just purchased.

My son in Seattle just bought me a nuviCam LMTHD as a gift. I am based in Asia and I was reading the local forums where I am located suggesting that I asks my son to return it and buy the nuviCam locally in Asia as it will have the lifetime Map updates.

I wanted to ask here if this was the correct way forward for my case. Guidance appreciated.

The lifetime updates only apply to the map initially pre-loaded on the device. If you want lifetime maps for where you are the the advice is correct.
